Visual Impairment means a student’s vision affects how they learn or move safely at school, even with glasses or other vision correction. This term includes low vision and blindness. Some visual impairments are progressive, meaning vision may worsen over time, and students may receive services early to prepare for future changes in their vision. Students with visual impairment need special supports to help them access learning, such as materials in different formats, help with movement and safety, or technology. Services are based on how the student’s vision affects their learning and daily school activities.
