Speech or Language Impairment means a student has difficulty speaking clearly, understanding language, or using words to communicate. SI can affect how clearly a student talks, how they understand others, or how they express ideas. Students with SI may receive support from a speechlanguage pathologist (SLP) to help improve communication skills and make progress in school.
